BURY CE HIGH SCHOOL
A Church of England Academy with the vision to enable all children to Believe, Achieve and Inspire.

Welcome

Bury Church has a long and distinguished history, originally founded in 1748. Over that time the school has served families throughout Bury and surrounding areas including Bolton, Rochdale, Salford, and Manchester. We are based close to the town centre of Bury, with close links to the Parish Church of Church of St Mary the Virgin, placing us at the heart of the Bury Community. We became part of the Bishop Fraser Trust family of schools in January 2022, and are proud to be part of multi Academy Trust with shared Christian values based upon John 10:10 “Life in all its fullness”.

Our motto “Let your light shine” is our guiding principle. It is this commitment to work and the Christian life that drives the success of the school and our ability to flourish in a constantly changing and challenging world. Our Christian ethos and values of compassion and love for one another allow everyone to grow in a safe, caring community which has high expectations for everyone enabling them to “light your light shine” in all aspects of school life.

I believe that every one of our students should have unlimited ambition to go on and become outstanding members of society. We will provide our pupils with an academic and social tool kit to adapt to an ever-changing world. Excellent relationships between staff, pupil, parents and carers ensure a shared understanding and belief in the school’s values and aims, working in partnership to maximise and promote the value of Christian distinctive education.

Our school is a friendly, vibrant, and exciting place in which every member of our school community is recognised and valued for who they are are, made in the image of God, and all are given the opportunity to “let your light shine”.

Bury Church offers a broad and balanced curriculum built upon a KS3 (years 7-9) and a KS4 offer providing academic rigour through the EBacc and a broad choice of option subjects including a range of vocational qualifications.

The school has a long standing reputation for academic success reinforced by the strong Christian ethos. Our pupils leave Bury Church well equipped to pursue further study whether A-level or vocational, apprenticeships and employment. We develop the character of our pupils to support this through the Duke of Edinburgh and Archbishop of York awards, and an enrichment programme to develop their talents thereby enabling the pupils to “let your light shine”. We are also a Cross of Nails associated school with Coventry Cathedral.

Thank you for your interest in our school. I hope you enjoy exploring the website to find out more about the school. We are happy to hear from you by email, phone or in person.
